Madurai
`Ahimsa' the term and practice of nonviolence have become more appropriate in today's context. Explosions, infernos, wails and cacophony have muzzled the voice of non-violence. But there is one voice from the ancient city of Madurai, which has started to recite `ahimsa' as a mantra. The International Gandhian Institute for Nonviolence and Peace has come out with a journal on `non-violence,' with the objective of spreading the message of peace, and to remind people that there is a better way to resolve conflicts than resorting to violence. The bimonthly journal, into its second issue, is edited by Gandhian leaders P.V. Rajagopal and S. Jeyapragasam. It is a wholesome presentation on `nonviolence,' featuring articles from peace lovers, interview with peacemakers, documents on non-violence and book and media reviews. The English journal is titled `Nonviolence' and `Ahimsai' is its Tamil version. Dr. Jeyapragasam is getting Hindi and Malayalam versions ready. The annual subscription is Rs. 300 for English and Rs. 200 for Tamil. Copies can be had from International Gandhian Institute for Nonviolence and Peace, Majagram, Kadavur, Madurai 625014.
