Bomb hoax at college

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Students and staff of Surana College, near South End Circle in Basavanagudi, went through anxious moments on Thursday following an anonymous call that a bomb has been planted at the college.

The police said that around 9.45 a.m., Malini, secretary to the principal, received a telephone call that a bomb has been planted at the college and it would explode at 10 a.m. On learning about the call, principal K.E. Radhakrishna informed the Jayanagar police.

The police, along with a Bomb Detection and Disposal squad, searched the college premises. No explosives were found and the call turned out to be a hoax. The students were made to go out of the college for an hour when the search was conducted.

On a complaint by Prof. Radhakrishna, the Jayanagar police have registered a case. The police do not rule out mischief by some students.
