NEW DELHI: A general alert for a possible "fidayeen" attack has been sounded in the Capital and the police are carrying out raids and looking out for members of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). However, no arrests have been made so far.
According to sources, intelligence agencies have passed on a general warning about a possible suicide attack at important
Plainclothes personnel have been deployed at strategic places to keep a close watch on suspicious activities.
The Special Cell, in coordination with its counterparts in other States, has started collating clues to zero in on any militants operating from the Capital.
The officers are also closely studying the modus operandi employed in the serial blasts in trains in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The Special Cell has in the recent past arrested a few terrorists trained in Bangladesh who were involved in planting bombs in trains. Revelations made by them are also being re-examined.
