dated July 15, 1956: Life Insurance Corpn.

Mr. M.C. Shah, Union Minister for Revenue and Civil Expenditure, told pressmen in Madras on July 14, prior to his departure for Bombay, that the proposed Life Insurance Corporation was expected to start functioning from September 1, 1956. Explaining the new set-up after the establishment of the Corporation, he recalled the statement he had made in Bombay early this month that there would be five zonal centres and about 30 divisional offices in all these zones. There would be between 160 and 180 branch offices to start with, increasing ultimately to about 250 so as to have at least one office in each district.
