BJP moves privilege motion against Maharashtra DGP

Special Correspondent

Remove Police Commissioner and DGP, says Munde

MUMBAI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday tabled a notice of Breach of Privilege in the Legislative Assembly against the State Director-General of Police, P.S. Pasricha, for saying that politicians were involved in the serial blasts on Mumbai's Western Railway local trains on Tuesday.

After question hour, Gopinath Munde, group leader of the BJP in the Assembly, said in his notice that the most devastating blasts had taken place in Mumbai. This was due to a security lapse and the State and the Central Governments were responsible for this. However, they were still squabbling over who should take responsibility. He said that Mumbai Police Commissioner A.N. Roy and Dr. Pasricha should be removed.

Mr. Munde wanted to know how the DGP could say that some politicians were involved in this.
