No raids in Kanpur: Home Department

LUCKNOW:
The State Home Department on Friday denied that the anti-terrorist squad of the Mumbai police and the Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh police conducted raids in Kanpur and arrested former city chief of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) Salman.
Reports stated the joint raid was conducted in Makhaniya Bazar locality in Kanpur on Thursday night and the ATS-STF team picked up the SIMI activist. Reports also said the former state president of SIMI, currently in Kanpur jail, was interrogated by the STF.
