Arun shines in Theni's victory

THENI: An unbeaten 67 by J. Arun Kanna helped Theni defeat Ramanathapuram by five wickets in the TNCA inter-district under-13 cricket tournament here on Friday.

At Theni: Ramanathapuram 148 for eight in 50 overs (Manirathnam 70) lost to Theni 149 for five in 39 overs (J. Arun Kanna 67 not out); Thiruvannamalai 100 in 36.4 overs lost to Thiruvallur 103 for two in 22.4 overs (B. Abarajith 54 not out).

At Dindigul: Pudukottai 36 in 11.1 overs (R. Karthikeyan four for 18, Saravanan five for 18) lost to Pondicherry 37 without loss in 6.1 overs; Dindigul 79 in 28.2 overs (A. Srinivasan four for 35) lost to Thanjavur 80 for two in 14.5 overs.

At Tirunelveli: Tirunelveli 191 for nine in 50 overs (C. Paulraj 77, S.R. Hari Krish five for 27) bt Kanchipuram 130 in 44 overs; Karur 72 in 20.4 overs (P. Adaikala Prabu five for 23) lost to Sivagangai 76 for one in 19.2 overs.

At Sivakasi: Madurai 167 in 48.1 overs (J. Vignesh 47) bt Nilgiris 39 in 39.4 overs (Abrar four for seven, J. Vignesh three for 13); Tiruchi 183 in 46.5 overs bt Virudhunagar 82 in 23.5 overs (Deenadayalan four for 11).

At Erode: Erode 153 for nine in 50 overs (S. Suraj three for 28, M. Uthish three for 25) bt Thoothukudi 121 for eight in 50 overs; Namakkal 176 in 40 overs bt Kanyakumari DCA 112 in 28.5 overs (B. Reiyas five for 27, R. Kavin Kishore three for 27).

At Nagapattinam: Dharmapuri 69 all out in 19.4 overs (Narendranath six for 19) lost to Nagapattinam 71 for two in 14 overs (Arun Nivas 38 not out); Coimbatore 217 for nine in 50 overs (Jagadeesan 67, Surendar 41, K. Surendar three for 40) bt Tiruvarur 75 in 23.2 overs (Bhavick three for 16, Karunai Doshi three for 15).
