BANGALORE: A doctor in government service, who was named an accused in an insurance racket, has moved the Karnataka High Court for bail. The doctor, who was a medical officer in a primary health centre at Byremangala in Ramanagaram of Bangalore Rural district, allegedly fabricated medical records to show that eight persons who were travelling in a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus were injured in a road accident. An advocate and a sub-inspector were others accused of fabricating records to help some persons claim insurance money. The doctor said in his bail application that he was falsely implicated.
Prosecution's case
The case of the prosecution is that an accident was said to have occurred near Nelamangala, and eight passengers who were injured claimed compensation from the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal. The amount claimed was Rs. 27.55 lakh. The KSRTC ordered an investigation and filed a complaint at the Ulsoorgate Police Station in Bangalore that false claims for compensation had been made. Justice Ajit Gunjal has adjourned hearing of the case.
