Non-teaching staff call off stir

Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI: The week-long stir by the non-teaching staff of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam here has been called-off on Friday following an agreement reached between the University's Vice-Chancellor Veena Noble Das and the striking staff members at the end of negotiations, which lasted over two hours.

The stand-off on the campus along with the resultant public and media out-cry against the university authorities' allegedly questionable actions caught the attention of the political circles as well as the State leaders forcing them to eventually intervene and bring about an end to the stir.

According to the Secretary of the university employees' association V. Subramanyam, agreement has been reached on all the controversial issues.
