CHENNAI: N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief, and N. Murali, Managing Director, of The Hindu called on Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at his residence in Chennai on Friday morning. Mr. Karunanidhi told them that the focus of his government would be on development, unmediated by any other considerations.

The Chief Minister's secretary, K. Shanmuganathan, read out a 20-line Tamil poem Mr. Karunanidhi had just published on the horror of the terrorist bombings in Mumbai and the incalculable suffering inflicted on innocent people, including children.

In response to a query, Mr. Karunanidhi related how much he enjoyed watching the recent World Cup tournament, and remarked that no other game could compare with football in terms of appeal.

He also spoke on how he has benefited from the practice of yoga for 25 minutes every morning.
