Smart cards to streamline traffic

Lucknow: To streamline traffic and check illegal plying of vehicles, the U.P. government has decided to issue smart cards at the time of registration of vehicles. Only smart cards could solve problems by telling the exact status of the vehicle, number of challans issued, validity of papers etc., on computer during vehicle checking, the Principal Secretary, transport, told reporters on Friday. The department was also planning to put high security number plates on vehicles so that they could be identified easily. - PTI.
