One killed, two injured in accident at worksite

KOCHI: One person was killed and two injured at an accident that occurred at the construction site of a hotel, in the city on Friday.

According to Fire and Rescue Service personnel, the accident occurred when three headload workers, involved in unloading marble slabs for construction at the Gokulam Park Inn at Kaloor, got trapped when one of the slabs slipped and fell on them. The Fire Force unit from Gandhi Nagar station had to struggle for an hour to rescue them. The deceased was identified as Arun Dev, 26, Shenoy Road, Kaloor. The injured were T.M. Rajappan, 56, Elamakkara and N.M. Ashraf, 42, Manappattiparambu, Kaloor. The accident occurred at 2.45 p.m.
