Navy rescues man

from tanker

Kochi: The Indian Navy rescued Yap Michael, an injured Filipino crew from a tanker, which was about five miles off the Kochi coast. Mr. Michael sustained injuries while working on the deck of the tanker MV Borag. Responding to a request from the Coast Guard, a Seaking helicopter from INS Garuda, piloted by Cdr Ravi Sohonee and Cdr IA Manivanan, was launched despite low visibility and heavy rains to evacuate the injured, said a communication from the Indian Navy. Mr. Michael patient was brought to Garuda and subsequently shifted to a city hospital. — Staff Reporter
