High Court imposes costs on BDA

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Taking strong exception to the non-filing of objections, the Karnataka High Court slapped costs of Rs. 10,000 on the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).

Justice K.L. Manjunath also took on record the undertaking by BDA that it would file objections in all cases in time in future.

The Bangalore Development Authority had challenged the order of the lower court dismissing their plea to evict a person from a plot. Shamanna, a resident of Ulsoor, had moved the trial court alleging that the Bangalore Development Authority along with a sangha were putting pressure on him to vacate his land. While hearing the appeal, Mr. Justice Manjunath took exception to the fact that the statement of objections was not filed. While slapping costs of Rs. 10,000, the court remanded the matter back to the trial court and directed that it be disposed of in 6 months.
