Two die in road accidents

BANGALORE: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in the city on Thursday. Mahesh Kumar (21) was killed when a lorry hit his motorcycle on Ring Road, off Kalyananagar junction, in Banaswadi police station limits around 2 p.m.

The Banaswadi traffic police have seized the lorry and arrested the driver.

In the other incident, the cleaner of a lorry from Tamil Nadu was killed when a car hit him at Bhadrappa Layout in Hebbal traffic police station limits.

The police said that around 5.30 p.m. officials of the Transport Department were checking vehicles at Bhadrappa Layout.

After the officials asked for the vehicle documents, the cleaner of the lorry went to his vehicle, which was parked on the other side of the road, to get the documents.

He was hit by a speeding car while he was crossing the road.

The cleaner has been identified as Venkatachalam (47) of Salem. The officials of the Transport Department shifted him to a hospital, where he died of injuries, the police said. The Hebbal traffic police have seized the car and arrested the driver.

Hacked to death

Three persons hacked to death Girish (27) of Chunchunkatte near Yeshwanthpur old railway station on Friday.

According to the police, Girish was standing near a tea stall along with his friends Raghu and Ansar when three armed men came in an autorickshaw and attacked him.

They also attacked Raghu. Girish was taken to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital, where he was declared dead. Raghu is being treated in the hospital.

The police have registered a complaint.

Vehicles damaged

Four cars and as many two-wheelers were damaged when a Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's garbage-carrying lorry rammed vehicles that had stopped at a traffic junction on Airport Road on Friday.

The police said the incident occurred around 12.15 p.m. near the airport. After the lorry rammed a car, it hit another car and this led to a serial collision. Some two-wheeler riders suffered minor injuries.

In view of this, traffic on the road was disrupted for some time.

The Airport traffic police have registered a case.

Passengers hurt

A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus hit a BMTC bus and then rammed a shop near the NGEF junction in Byappanahalli police station limits around 11 a.m. on Friday.

The driver of the KSRTC bus and some passengers suffered minor injuries, the police said.

The Indiranagar traffic police have registered a case.
