`Naad Anunaad' by Kalyani Krishnaswamy

CHENNAI: Art and music should reach many more youths through compact discs (CDs), said Department of Art and Culture Deputy Director V. Jayabal here on Thursday.

Mr. Jayabal was speaking after receiving the first CD album titled `Naad Anunaad' composed by Kalyani Krishnaswamy at a function organised by Carnatica.net and Dr. Krishnaswamy.

He said such CDs would facilitate the discussion of the nuances of compositions by music school students.

Apart from the regular academic curricula, students should also be taught about music, he said.

Releasing the first CD, Padma Seshadri Group of Schools Dean Y.G. Parthasarathy said, Carnatica had helped many students learn music through the Internet.

Lauding the compositions of Kalyani Krishnaswamy as being "divine," she said the album is all about Ambal and Devi.

K.N. Shasikiran welcomed the gathering.
