VIJAYAWADA : A plan for the development of the Government General Hospital (GGH) with a budget of Rs. 3 crore has been prepared, District Collector (DC) Navin Mittal, told the GGH Development Society on Saturday. Mr. Mittal said a trauma care centre would be established at a cost of Rs. 60 lakh and hospital equipment worth Rs. 60 lakh would be obtained. An ambulance costing Rs. 20 lakh would also be purchased, he said. The Government Ayurvedic Hospital Development Society (GAHDS) that met under the chairmanship of the DC passed a resolution seeking funds for the completion of the hospital. Dr. Nori Ramasastri of the GAHDS, decided to ask the Centre to sanction Rs. 50 lakh for the construction of the first floor of the hospital building. Mr. Mittal said the Centre had sanctioned an equal amount as grant-in-aid for the ground floor.
College repair funds
The committee passed another resolution allocating Rs. 16.66 lakh for undertaking repairs to the Ayurvedic college buildings. Vijayawada West MLA, Sk.Nazarvalli, gave 50 per cent of the funds allocated for repair of college building from his Assembly Constituency Development funds, the Collector informed. Later, Mr. Mittal and Mr. Nazarvalli inaugurated exhibitions on Rasasastra and Dravyaguna. College principal (in-charge) K.Nishteswar, faculty members Anil Kumar and Srinivasa Achari were present.
