Commodity prices in wholesale market

The following were the prices (in Rs. per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Saturday, according to the Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry:

Groundnut oil - 54, palmolein oil - 44, sunflower oil - 50, tamarind (flower variety) - 30 to 39, tamarind - 44 to 51, chillies (new) - 35 to 45, rice (2716) - 14, rice (super fine) - 15, rice (sona masoori) - 18 to 19, rice (samba masoori) - 16, black gram - 41.70 and red gram - 23 to 28.

Gulzar inspects

several areas

Municipal Commissioner Natarajan Gulzar inspected areas in Ajitsinghnagar, Santhinagar, Payakapuram, Kundavarikandrika and surroundings on Saturday and reviewed sanitation and drinking water supply. He also inspected the works of an outfall drain under construction from the Excel plant.

Diabetes awareness camp held

Diabetes awareness camp was organised by the Insurance Corporation Employees' Union for employees of Life Insurance Corporation at City Branch III (730).

Diabetologist K. Venugopal Reddy addressed the employees. Leaders of the union P. Srinivasa Rao and Vaidahi participated.
