Dubai: Four-time champion India was eliminated by Pakistan in a thriller, thus denying it a chance to make the semifinals of the ninth Rashid International volleyball tournament here. India suffered its second successive defeat at Al Wasl Club's Rashid Bin Maktoum Indoor Stadium losing 26-24, 21-25, 21-25, 19-25 after it was thrashed by debutant France in the Group A opener. It was the first time that India failed to reach the semifinals of the six-team event. France beat UAE 25-21, 25-18, 25-23 to qualify for the last-four stage from Group A along with Pakistan after they clinched four points from two wins. Pakistan and France will fight it out to decide the group leader, while India will play UAE. PTI
