TIRUNELVELI: A deadly spell of bowling by Hariharan (six for seven) helped Tirunelveli defeat Sivagangai by 116 runs in the five-team Zone `G' league in the TNCA inter-district under-13 cricket tournament at ICRC Turf ground here on Sunday. Cuddalore, helped by Harish Babu's five for 33, beat Karur by five wickets at Sankar HSS ground.
The scores: At Tirunelveli: Tirunelveli 145 in 41.1 overs (Adikala Prabu four for 19) bt Sivagangai 29 in 15.4 overs (Hariharan six for seven); Karur 87 in 26 overs (Harish Babu five for 33) lost to Cuddalore 88 for five in 17.5 overs. At Theni: Tiruvallur 216 for six in 50 overs (B. Indrajit 98 n.o.) bt Theni 83 in 38 overs (Dhathyawal four for 11); Krishnagiri 66 in 30 overs (Anthar Basha five for 24) lost to Thiruvannamalai 67 for four in 18 overs. At Dindigul: Pudukottai 73 in 28.1 overs (Vignesh Kannan four for eight) lost to Thanjavur 74 for three in 19.1 overs; Pondicerry 162 in 38.4 overs (A. Amaran 58) bt Dindigul 106 in 38.4 overs (R. Karthikeyan four for 11). At Sivakasi: Tiruchi 139 in 49.5 overs (Abrar four for 11) bt Madurai 116 in 44.1 overs (Adhars four for 19); Virudhunagar 129 in 42.1 overs lost to Nilgiris 130 for four in 44.4 overs.
