Staff Reporter

The Madras Medical Mission Academy of Medical Sciences, an academic arm of the Madras Medical Mission, Chennai, is offering a B.S. Physician Assistant programme, in collaboration with Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.

The programme encompasses a core curriculum that provides students with a firm grounding in medical skills, analytical skills, managerial skills and communication skills.

Students with a pass in the Plus-Two science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths may take up the entrance examination. The lab-oriented undergraduate and postgraduate courses (conducted by MMM Council/ Manipal Academy of Higher Education) teach students the techniques and the importance of diagnostic procedures. The departments of Health and Behavioural Sciences have patient-oriented and management-related programmes for those with an aptitude for medical sociology, health counselling, medical records management, nutrition and dietetics. Interesting courses in life sciences are also in the offing. Classroom teaching is supplemented by demonstrations, group discussions, seminars and presentations.
