Gopal Reddy is dead

C. Gopal Reddy

Bangalore: C. Gopal Reddy (63), chairman of the State's Fifth Pay Commission, passed away at the Sagar Apollo Hospital here on Sunday following a brief illness. He is survived by wife and three sons.

Mr. Gopal Reddy, who was born in Andhra Pradesh in June 1943, joined the IAS in 1966. He held various positions and rose to become the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government. In December 2002, the S.M. Krishna Government had ignored the seniority of M.B. Prakash and Mr. Gopal Reddy and appointed B.S. Patil as the Chief Secretary. Mr. Gopal Reddy was selected to head the Pay Commission by the N. Dharam Singh Government last year. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and KPCC president M. Mallikarjun Kharge have mourned the passing away of Mr. Gopal Reddy.
