ANANTAPUR: The Irrigation Advisory Board meeting scheduled for July 17 here will decide the extent of ayacut under the Tungabhadra Right High Level Canal in Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa districts and schedule of water release to each sub-system. The Tungabhadra Board has decided to release water to the canal on the same day. Water is likely to reach the State border on July 22, provided the main canal in Karnataka remains firm without breaches. However, the issue of repairs on the main canal and sub-systems are not likely to be taken up in the meeting as legislators won't take part in it due to the election code of conduct in force. Proposals for repairs on the main canal in Tungabhadra Board limits in Karnataka and sub-systems like Guntakal Branch Canal and Tadipatri Branch Canal, were not given serious consideration by the Government.
