Razvi, Sudha bag honours

MANGALORE: Razvi Khan of Municipal Sports Club, Davangere, and V. Sudha Prabhu of Karnataka State Police were adjudged the strong man and strong woman respectively at the 32nd men's and 24th women's State senior powerlifting championships, which concluded here on Sunday. Balanjaneya Gymnasium, Mangalore and Karnataka State Police bagged the team championships in the men and women sections respectively.

A record (300.5kg) by Keith L.J. Furtado of Balanjaneya in the squat event in the 125-plus kg class was the highlight of the final day of the three-day event. On the distaff side, Keerthi D.K. from Karnataka State Police and Pushpa N. from Sadhana Multigym, Sagar, set records in the 60kg and 82.5kg class respectively. While Keerthi's 73kg-effort fetched her a new bench press record, N. Pushpa, with an effort of 161kg, rewrote the squat record.

Mohammad Ismail, Hercules Gym, Kundapur (130, 60, 162.5, 352.5).

Women: 60kg: 1. Keerthi D.K., Karnataka State Police (150, 73, 152.5, 375), 2. Manjula, KSP (120, 55, 125, 300), 3. Shainy M.C., Hercules Gym (82.5, 32.5, 100, 215); 67.5kg: 1. Seema S., District Coaching Centre, Mangalore (160, 50, 145, 355), 2. Reshma Kamath, DCC (90, 30, 115, 235), 3. Harini C.N., SDM SC, Ujire (82.5, 32.5, 107.5, 222.5); 75kg: 1. R.
