HYDERABAD: Film actress Vijayashanti will be back in action after a long gap by undertaking an extensive tour of Telangana region. She told reporters during an informal chat here on Sunday evening that she would undertake a rath yatra to all the 450 mandals in Telangana "as soon as possible". Ms. Vijayashanti has already got two `rathams' specially prepared for the purpose. The yatra will most probably synchronise with the release of her film, `Nayudamma', early next month. An audio cassette of her songs and speeches with an emotional content on problems faced by the people of the region, failure of movements and conspiracies of integrationists is also due for release at the same time. The actress of `Ramulamma' fame, who was in city to participate in the Bonalu festivities at Mahankali temple, denied that the rath yatra had anything to do with the film's release. She said the film had come out extraordinarily well. The film actress met senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader A. Narendra at the temple and travelled with him in his car on their way back.
Changing scenario
Responding to a question about her break from mainstream politics for over a year, she said she preferred to wait and watch the emerging developments on Telangana. She felt it was not the right time to plunge into an active campaign on Telangana in the face of changing scenario. Ms. Vijayashanti lashed out at the Telugu film industry and political parties across the spectrum for their indifference towards Telangana. She attacked the Congress and the TRS for "cheating people" with their alliance. She said separate Telangana was not possible under the Congress regime and asked the TRS Ministers to resign from the UPA Government and join a united movement. Turning to the BJP, a party she once joined, she said the party's commitment to separate Telangana was doubtful as it had set aside its own resolution on the demand after forging an alliance with the TDP. "What is the guarantee they will not repeat the same if it gets closer to TDP again?", she questioned.
