Funds for sky bus project

Sir, — Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa who visited the areas in Ullal affected by sea erosion had announced a sky bus project. He said for the project Rs. 1 crore would be on sanctioned to study its feasibility.

Though the sky bus was introduced in Madgaon, it was not a success there. So why sanction so much money to study such a project?

Also, the long pending demand for a Mangalore-Bangalore railway project is yet to be met.

Road over-bridge needed

Sir, — There is an urgent need for a road over-bridge at MES Ring Road in Jalahally railway level crossing. Often, traffic gets jammed on this crossing owing to the frequent closure of the gates. The authorities concerned should consider building a road over-bridge here.

Bus service from railway stations

Sir, — Passengers are grateful to the South Western Railway for improving facilities at the City and Cantonment railway stations. In addition to the lounge facilities, bus services to and from the stations are needed to coincide with the train timings. I request the authorities concerned to arrange buses with luggage facility from the stations to different parts of the city.

K.V. Pathy,

Significant omission

Sir, — To commemorate the great saint, Basaveshwara, the Government of India, the Reserve Bank of India and the Basava Samithi released a set of coins depicting Basveshwara on June 23, 2006. The Rs.100-coin is only commemorative and the Rs. 5-coin is for circulation. However, the coins do not have the year of issue (2006) on the reverse and the period of the saint (12th century) on the obverse.

This is a significant omission and as a numismatist I feel the coins should have this information.

I urge the RBI authorities to reissue the coin with the necessary inscription.

V.S. Yalvigi,

Bangalore
