Woman injured in building collapse

NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old woman sustained injures after a portion of a two-storey building caved in on her at Chandni Chowk in North Delhi on Sunday. The victim is stated to be out of danger. According to the police, the woman and her children were inside the house when its roof caved in on them around 10-45 p.m. While she sustained injuries in different parts of her body, her children escaped unhurt. She was taken to JPN Hospital where she was admitted and given first-aid. The police have initiated a probe into the matter.

One arrested in murder case

NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old allegedly involved in a murder case was arrested at Gokulpuri in North-East Delhi on Saturday. The police claim to have recovered a country-made firearm and a live cartridge from his person.

The accused, Salim, was arrested near Gokulpuri flyover. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to having killed his accomplice, Nasiruddin, at Una in Gujarat over a monetary dispute. The Gujarat police have been informed about his arrest.

Four alleged burglars nabbed

NEW DELHI: Four alleged burglars, including three minors, have been arrested by the Lahori Gate police of North Delhi. The police have recovered Rs.2.75 lakhs in cash from them.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Sunil Garg, the accused were arrested after they committed burglary in a Naya Bazar shop. Efforts are on to arrest their other accomplices.

Four held with pirated CDs

NEW DELHI: Four men have been arrested at Dabri by the District Investigation Unit of the South Delhi police on charges of manufacturing and supplying pirated music and video compact discs. The police claim to have seized 22,000 pirated compact discs, inlay cards and printing and moulding plant machines worth Rs. 30 crores during the operation.

Acting on a tip-off that one Sudesh Gupta, a resident of West Sagarpur, had been supplying pirated music and video compact discs, the police mounted a raid and arrested him. They recovered over 1,000 pirated compact discs from his possession. At his instance, the police arrested Vinod and Jaipal and recovered 900 more compact discs from a West Sagarpur house. Subsequently, the police raided the premises where the compact discs were being manufactured in the Industrial Area on G.T. Karnal Road and arrested Deepak Malhotra. Rest of the recoveries were made from there.

Satta racket busted

New Delhi: Delhi police have busted a high-tech betting racket being run during the England Vs Pakistan cricket match on Saturday with the arrest of three persons. Identified as Sanjay Arora, resident of Brij Vihar in Ghaziabad, Badal Chawla and Pawan Kumar, both residents of Jhilmil Colony in East Delhi, the three were running the `satta' racket from a house in Vivek Vihar during the test match, police said on Sunday. Six mobile phones and a colour TV were recovered from the accused, they said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the premises and apprehended the three while they were attending phone calls of their clients and maintaining the `satta' amounts on their pads, they added.
