BANGALORE: Four persons, who boarded a van to reach Kolar from Krishnarajapuram, were robbed of cash and valuables, including debit cards, after being assaulted in the early hours of Sunday. The police, who gave the names of the victims as Veerabhadracharya, Venkateswarulu, Rajashekhar and Pahniraj, said that they were waiting for a bus near the Hanging Bridge bus stop around 12.45 a.m. when the van, which had five occupants, stopped there following which they boarded the van. However, the occupants stopped the vehicle near Malur, assaulted two passengers for not having ATM cards and pushed them out of the van. They then took the other two passengers to Kalkere and forced them to withdraw Rs. 4,500 and Rs. 1,500, respectively. They assaulted the two before leaving them at Kalkere. All the victims were from Kolar, the police said. The Krishnarajapuram Police have registered a case. Investigation is on. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Muniswamy told The Hindu that they had some clues and expressed the confidence of arresting the culprits.
Robbed
A taxi driver was robbed of Rs. 450 at knifepoint in Rajagopalanagar Police Station limits on Saturday. The police said the driver Nagaraj, a resident of Palace Guttahalli, had a drink on his way to meet his friend at Kempegowda Layout. He boarded an autorickshaw to be dropped at the friend's place. After alighting from the vehicle and walking for some distance, he was threatened with a knife by the robbers who relieved him of the cash, the police said. Rajagopalanagar Police have registered a case.
