`New policies needed to tap emerging technologies'

BANGALORE: New political and economic policies need to be framed for making use of 16 emerging technologies in non-information technology (IT) and IT sectors in the country, said the Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Damodar Acharya.

At the convocation of the International Institute of Technology here on Sunday, Mr. Acharya said the new policies should be supplemented by investment in research and development and in education sectors.

`Leaders of change'

Chief mentor of Infosys Technologies, N.R. Narayana Murthy, asked the graduates to be leaders of change.

Mr. Narayana Murthy asked youth to work towards achieving their dreams.

Managing Director of Infosys Technologies, Nandan Nilekani, spoke.

As many as 116 students received M.Tech degrees.
