KUWJ awards presented to 38 journalists

Bangalore:
The Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) distributed awards for excellence in journalism at Devanahalli on Sunday. As many as 38 journalists, including photojournalists, from around the State received the awards for 2004-2005 at the two-day 27th Rajya Patrakartara Sammelan.
K. Sridhar Achar, associate editor, Samyukta Karnataka, and K.B. Ganapathi, editor of Mysore Mitra, won the P.R. Ramiah award for 2004 and 2005, respectively.
Sampath Kumar G.P, photographer, The Hindu, Bangalore, won the Press Club award for outstanding photo of 2004: of late Cristiano Junior, a Brazilian football player, who died of cardiac arrest while playing a match in Bangalore in December 2004.
Sri Nirmalananda Swami of Adichunchunagiri Math, Chikballapur, and C.T. Ravi, Bharatiya Janata Party's Yuva Morcha president and Chikamagalur MLA, distributed the awards.
