Bangalore: Police Commissioner Neelam Achuta Rao on Sunday lamented the lack of support to the Traffic Warden Organisation (TWO). He promised to provide support to expand its activities. Speaking after reviewing the 21st Raising Day parade of the chief traffic warden and traffic wardens taken out by the TWO here on Sunday, Mr. Rao praised the TWO's activities, especially for introducing traffic awareness programmes in schools in the city. The Raising Day is celebrated to inform the common man about basic traffic rules and regulations. Students of Cauvery School and Carmel High School participated in the parade. The parade began with a classical dance performance by students of Cauvery School. Officials of TWO staged a street play on the ills of driving under the influence of alcohol and use of mobile phones while driving/riding. The Commissioner later gave away the Best Traffic Warden Awards to senior traffic wardens from six wings of the city. From the east wing, Samuel Henry; C.V. Muralidhara from the west wing; Nataraja A. from the north wing; A. Surendra from the south wing; D. Ghosh from the central wing; and Dev Subramanya from the Audugodi wing, received the awards. The Best Traffic Warden of TWO was awarded to Senior Traffic Warden Samuel Henry of the east wing. M.N. Reddi, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic); M.A. Saleem, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic - East); and Ramasubba, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic - West), were present.
