This Day That Age
The Kashmir Premier, Bakshi Ghulam Mohammed, has ridiculed Pakistan's claim that Kashmir should form part of Pakistan because a majority of the State's population was Muslim. Addressing a public meeting on July 17 at Nohama, about 12 miles from Srinagar, he said that more than four crores of Muslims led a happy and prosperous life in India. "India has for centuries been a centre of Islamic learning and culture. I am proud to be a citizen of India where great Muslim sages were born and died. Religion alone cannot form the basis of relationship and agreements. I want the Pakistani leaders to remember that Kashmir's accession to India is complete and irrevocable.''
