This Day That Age
Indian Opinion, the journal founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1903, announced on July 16 the death in a Johannesburg hospital of Miss Schlesin, known as "the Mahatma's daughter," who was Gandhiji's Secretary when he was in South Africa. Miss Schlesin, who first came into contact with Gandhiji when he began practising as a lawyer, later became his Private Secretary. In his Autobiography, Gandhiji devoted a chapter to describing his Secretary's character and personality.
