Broadline Computer teams up with IBM

Special Correspondent

Opens `Proof-of-concept' knowledge centre in Chennai

  • The centre will provide a range of service offerings for customers
  • The objective is to demystify the IT solutions for SMEs

CHENNAI: The Chennai-based Broadline Computer Systems (P) Ltd., a software service provider and a system integrator, and IBM have teamed up to open a first-of-its-kind `Proof of concept-knowledge centre' here.

The IBM-Broadline Knowledge Centre will provide a range of service offerings for the customers to test the performance of a wide range of enterprise application solutions, including Oracle Database and Lotus Domino, with flavours of Linux and AIX. The centre will also provide training to the users of the applications.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Jyothi Sathyanathan, Country Business Manager-P Series, IBM India Ltd., said IBM always understood the need for a real-world IT infrastructure, especially for the SME (small and medium enterprise) customers to test the software before making an investment decision.

"Now, the customers of enterprise applications do not have to go by the presentations of the sales people. They can actually have a hands-on experience, take a physical look and test the performance of the application in a real world scenario," he said. In the IBM-Broadline Knowledge Centre, "Broadline will hand-hold the customers through the technology,'' he added. The objective of the centre was to demystify the IT solutions for SMEs, he said. Based on experience, the concept would be extended to other cities, he added.

    M. Arumugam, Managing Director, Broadline, said the knowledge centre was expected to test the performance of around 50 large enterprise solutions. The centre proposed to cater to at least 75-100 end-user organisations every month. It would also have Oracle and Novel as the two other technology partners, he added.
