Centre urged to make DD studio functional

Staff Reporter

Kozhikode: The City Council of the Kozhikode Corporation adopted a resolution on Monday urging the Centre to immediately take steps to commission the recording studio of Doordarshan Kendra on the Kozhikode Medical College grounds here. The council also passed a resolution urging the State Government and the Police Department to be more vigilant in dealing with extremist organisations in the wake of the serial blasts in Mumbai. Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) councillor U.T. Rajan, through another calling attention motion, raised the issue of the menace of street dogs in the city. Mayor M. Bhaskaran, who chaired the council session, and Corporation secretary M.A. Sreedharan Nair, said the problem would be solved in accordance with the rules of capturing and sterilising the dogs.
