Both to blame

Both the Israel Government and the Hizbollah are equally responsible for the latest West Asian crisis. Israel should have exercised restraint in its attempt to free two of its soldiers abducted by the militant outfit. In the unwarranted and avoidable conflict, innocent Lebanese civilians are the unfortunate victims.

Bijan Kumar Mahapatra,

After attacking Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Israel has now turned its attention to Lebanon. The attack on Lebanon is disproportionate to the provocation. The Hizbollah may also be at fault but as the stronger nation, Israel should have exercised restraint. It is in the best interest of the civilised world to bring back the fragile peace in the region.

S. Kamat,
Bardez, Goa

The Hizbollah is a notorious terrorist outfit and the Israelis have done the right thing by taking it on. It needs to be given a stiff dose of its own medicine. Collateral damage both in Israel and Lebanon, though unfortunate, is unavoidable. The international community needs to intervene without delay to prevent the situation from going out of hand.

Gurgaon, Haryana

Kadapa, A.P.
