ACHR condemns Erraboru killings

Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) on Monday condemned the killing of 18 people in the Errabore Relief Camp of Chhattisgarh by naxalites.

In a statement here, ACHR director Suhas Chakma said, "This is a deliberate attack and the Maoists have no excuses to make, which they usually do after killing innocent civilians."

Pointing out that a high-level meeting of Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police of naxalite-affected states was scheduled for July 21in Bhubaneshwar, the ACHR urged the Centre not to involve civilians in the conflict and to ensure their physical safety and security. They also sought a separate ministry to oversee the development of naxalite-affected areas.
