Monsoon session: Somnath plans meetings
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
With the Monsoon session of Parliament scheduled to start on Monday, Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee has planned a round of meetings with leaders of various political parties/groups to ensure its smooth functioning.
Mr. Chatterjee has decided to continue with the meetings, a practice he initiated after he assumed charge as Speaker. Starting this Thursday, he would host a dinner beginning with the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance.
The Congress has been invited on Friday while Saturday has been reserved for other constituents in the United Progressive Alliance.
The Left and other parties supporting the UPA from outside such as the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Rashtirya Lok Dal have been invited for a breakfast meeting on Sunday, which would be followed by a customary lunch he would host for leaders of all political parties.
