India should back Israel: Swamy

CHENNAI: India should support Israel's stand in the recent flare-up in Lebanon, Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy said on Monday.

In a statement, he said the Hizbollah militants crossed the international Lebanon-Israel border, killed some soldiers and kidnapped two of them. "This was a highly provocative act, and Israel had to retaliate."

Dr. Swamy wanted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ask the G8 nations to condemn the Hizbollah and direct the militants to return the soldiers.
