GUNTUR: A villager was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Naramalapadu village in Karempudi mandal of Guntur district on Monday. According to the police, Lingala Galaiah, 32, was found dead outside his house. Galaiah was a known supporter of Sk. Saidulu, a Congress leader who is in the race for the Sarpanch post. He was actively involved in campaigning for Saidulu. However, family members claimed that one R. Bramham had unsuccessfully tried earlier to persuade Galaiah to refrain from supporting Saidulu. They alleged in their complaint to the police that they suspected Bramham to be behind this act. The police pressed sniffer dogs into service and launched a hunt for the killers. In the afternoon, mediapersons in and around Gurazala town received a phone call from a person claiming to be a member of the Chandravanka dalam, Bhasker, who said that leaders and party activists supporting the Congress would meet with a similar fate, hinting that their group could be behind the murder. The police suspect this could be a ploy to divert the attention of the police from the murderer.
