Coimbatore: Counselling for admission under the `Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2006' (TNEA-2006) programme for engineering courses conducted by Anna University began at the Government College of Technology (GCT) centre in the city, here on Monday. The University sources told The Hindu that 23 physically handicapped candidates under the academic stream had been called for counselling at the 9 a.m. session and two physically handicapped candidates under the vocational stream at the 2 p.m. session. On July 18 and 19, the university would counsel and admit vocational stream candidates at four sessions starting at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. On July 20, it would be the turn of students from other States in four categories - Southern, Western, Eastern and Northern - with separate cut-off marks for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, and other candidates. From July 21 to 31, the University would conduct counselling and admission for academic stream candidates based on the cut-off mark seniority, according to information posted on the university website.
