ANANTAPUR: The District and Sessions Court on Monday adjourned the Paritala Ravindra murder case to July 27. The court will take up hearing on the plea of several accused, who are presently lodged in two central prisons at Hyderabad, for keeping them in the Anantapur district jail on July 24. In all, 13 of the 16 accused in the murder case were produced in the court officiated by Principal Sessions Judge V. Chandrasekharan in the absence of District Judge, the post lying vacant after the superannuation of S. Chinnaiah on June 30. While the first accused G. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri was brought from the district jail at Reddypalli near here, the remaining 12 accused were brought from Hyderabad. The accused who were brought from Hyderabad were J. Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu Sreenu, P. Narayana Reddy, V. Rekhamaiah, M. Obi Reddy, V. Kondaiah, V. Srinivasulu, B. Ranganayakulu, P. Rammohan Reddy, G.V. Reddy, T. Peddi Reddy, T. Konda Reddy and V. Hanumantha Reddy. The court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the case to give a copy of the chargesheet to Moddu Sreenu after the latter expressed inability to engage counsel. Suryanarayana, the counsel appearing for the CBI, submitted to the court that a copy of the chargesheet would be given to Moddu Sreenu before the next hearing.
Bail sought
A majority of the remaining accused pleaded in the court that they be kept in Anantapur itself and some of them had also filed petitions by engaging lawyers in this regard. The judge told them that their petitions would be heard on July 24. Moddu Sreenu preferred to stay in the Hyderabad jail itself. One of the accused, G.V. Reddy, filed a petition seeking bail. It would also be taken up on July 24. Other accused sought time for engaging lawyers to argue their cases. On a request of all the accused, the judge permitted them to talk to one another and also to meet their kin in the court hall itself. Accordingly, they talked one another and family members for about 20 minutes. Suri and Moddu Sreenu were also found conversing with each other during the period. A large number of police personnel were deployed on the court premises as part of the security measures.
