Learning material exhibition

CHENNAI: The Krida Foundation, which trains teachers for pre-primary and kindergarten classes, will be holding an exhibition of the activity and learning material prepared by its students on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Kodambakkam. Personality development

The PAC Centre4Development at Ashok Nagar will be conducting a personality development workshop for students aged 14 to 18. The two-day programme will be held twice, with batches commencing this Saturday and Sunday, followed by another in the next week. The fee is Rs. 1,250. Admissions to U.K. universities

Four universities from the United Kingdom will be in the city for admissions for the September 2006 intake from Thursday to Monday. They offer a variety of courses including design, business, computing and engineering. University of Sunderland (www.sunderland.ac.uk) , University of Hull (www.hull.ac.uk) , London South Bank University (www.lsbu.ac.uk) and University of Plymouth (www.plymouth.ac.uk) offer scholarships for select courses.

Investiture ceremony

The investiture ceremony for the students' council for 2006-07 was held at the GSS Jain College for Women on Monday. Cynthia Pandian, Vice-Chancellor, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli presided and released the college calendar.

College union inaugurated

The students union of S.D.N.B. Vaishnav College for Women, Chromepet was inaugurated last week. The office-bearers, who were elected during the end of the last academic session, took the oath during the function in which Xavier Alphonse, Director, Madras Centre for Research and Development of Community Education was the chief guest. T. Sumitra, principal of the college was also present.

Literary competition

Ramakrishna Mission Students' Home recently conducted a district-level, inter-school literary competition as part of the centenary memorial celebrations. Around 1,000 students from 70 schools participated. Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School won the rolling shield. Chief Educational Officer D. Rajendran gave away the award.

Freshers' Day

First year students of Durgadevi Polytechnic College, Kavaraipettai, participated in `Freshers Day' programme held recently. Parents also attended. Heads of the institution urged the students to begin working toward their goals.
