11-year-old girl killed in road accident

MANGALORE: Sahana (11), who was injured after she fell down from a scooter being driven by her father, succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

The accident took place at Kudpadi in Amtady village under Bantwal Town Police station limits when the scooter rolled off a small hillock. Police are investigating.

Manjunath, a lorry cleaner, was thrown out of the moving vehicle at Nirukatte along the Bangalore-Mangalore National Highway 48 on Sunday. The Uppinangady police have registered a case. Manjunath succumbed to injuries in hospital.

Assault

Achyuth, a conductor from the Bagalkot depot of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, was reportedly assaulted by a person on the KSRTC bus station premises at Bejai here on Sunday. The Barke police who have registered a case under Section 353 of the IPC said Rangappa, also from Bagalkot, brought a tempo inside the bus station and started calling out for passengers. Mr. Achyuth objected to Rangappa soliciting for passengers within the bus station and asked him to vacate the premises. Rangappa reportedly threatened the conductor. Investigations are on.

Deaths

Mohan Nayak (48) reportedly ended his life by jumping into the river near Mangaladevi Temple here under Mangalore South (Pandeshwar) Police Station limits. Himakara (9) was drowned when he accidentally slipped and fell into a stream near Huvinakoppala, Karnadu village in Bantwal taluk. The Konaje police have registered a case and are investigating.
