`Maintain balance between quality, quantity of education'

National Degree College, Jayanagar, accorded autonomous status


  • College hailed for maintaining good relationship between students and teachers
  • Colleges urged to concentrate on quality education in various courses
  • National College to introduce new courses

    Bangalore: Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University H.A. Ranganath on Monday said proper balance should be maintained between the quality and quantity of education to derive optimum benefit for students as well as to society.

    Speaking after inaugurating the autonomous status of National Degree College, Jayanagar, here, Prof. Ranganath commended the college for successfully maintaining a good relationship among the students and teachers.

    He said that the college administration to plan things in such a manner so as not to invite any objection from the university.

    He urged the college to become a role model in the country for other affiliated colleges in getting the status of autonomy. He said that State Government was late in according autonomous status to various colleges when compared with neighbouring states.

    The Vice-Chancellor said the autonomous status would help in providing quality education and urged other colleges affiliated to the university to concentrate on quality education in various courses. He pointed out that colleges after getting autonomous status should continue to achieve excellence in higher education. The role of teachers had increased manifolds following the autonomy, he noted.

    Chairman of the National Education Society A.H. Rama Rao said the college would introduce new courses in human resource development, nanoscience, computer fundamentals and communicative English. He said with the autonomy, results and certificates would come out quickly.
