ALAPPUZHA: P. Sudhakaran, Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] district secretary, has said that the party will take strong action if any of its members are involved in the attack on an excise team during a raid at a spirit godown at Kariyilakulangara on Sunday. Mr. Sudhakaran told The Hindu here on Monday that the stand of the CPI(M) was that party members should not cultivate any relationship with spirit lobby and mafia. Though it was true that spirit was seized from the wife's house of M. Bhaskaran, a member of the party district committee, the latter had no relation with that house during the past two decades, he added. He did know if Aji Kumar, main accused in the attack on an Excise Circle Inspector, S. Jayakumar, was a member of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI). If he was one, the DYFI would take action, he added.
