Court's ruling on medicos' stir

Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court on Monday said that the medicos who went on strike but did not give any written undertaking to the High Court that they would desist from going on strike, be proceeded against, if necessary under the provisions of contempt of court.

The Bench was dealing with a public interest litigation wherein the issue of medicos going on strike was dealt with.

Grievance redress

It was brought to the notice of the court that the attitude of the Government regarding the health services is leading to repeated strikes by the medicos. The Bench directed the Government to forthwith formulate and put in place a grievance redress mechanism. It did not appreciate the action of many of the medical students who went on strike.
