KOCHI: The Media Commission of Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council will hold a contest for chavittunatakam, a traditional form of telling moral stories that is almost on its last legs. The contest is to keep the tradition of chavittunatakam alive and to pass it on to the new generation, a KCBC press release said. The contest will be held at the Pastoral Orientation Centre (POC), Palarivattam, in September. Moral stories or chavittunatakam that are based on themes in the Bible or on the lives of saints can be presented at the contest. Presentations that receive `A' grade will be given cash awards and certificates, the press release said. Those wishing to join the contest can register by paying Rs.100 and sending three copies of the script to the office of the Media Commission, KCBC, PB No. 2251, POC, Palarivattam, Kochi-25 before July 25.
