`New generation needs to study epics'

Staff Correspondent

SHIMOGA: T.V. Narayana Sastry on Tuesday inaugurated the weeklong discourse on "Srimad Bhagavatham" at Sri Ganapathi Temple at Jeevana Sanje Vruddhashrama at Gopala here.

Mr. Sastry said that the religious pursuits such as prayers and recitation of hymns were not meant only for the aged people. The younger generation needed to study the epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

He lauded the initiative of the Jnaneshwari Trust, which runs the old age home for organising the programme.

Trust chairman Nagesh Raikar presided over the function.

Nevane Ganesh Bhat delivered the discourse after the inaugural function.
