VIJAYAWADA: The Regional Transport Authority is conducting a number of awareness meetings and rallies as part of the SAFAR programme. Deputy Transport Commissioner M. Ratna Manikyam said roadshows are conducted to impart safety rules among drivers. The programme will be conducted till July 18. RTO M. Bhaskar Rao has urged managements of all schools to ensure that their schools buses have a speed limit of 40 kmph. School managements should follow such rules scrupulously in order to avoid accidents and ensure free traffic flow. Addressing a meeting organised as part of the programme here on Tuesday, Mr. Rao said drivers should not open the speed locks under any circumstances and the managements should take care in this regard. He advised the schools to have low-lying steps to enable children to board buses without difficulty.
